Merced College Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society
What is AGS?
- AGS is the academic Honor Society and service organization of the California Community Colleges. AGS supports its members in defining and reaching their goals by encouraging achievement and community service, building social and professional networks, and providing the information and focus needed for success.
Who can join?
- Students who have completed 12 semester or 18 quarter units of college work in a maximum of 3 semesters or 5 quarters, who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- Students who are lifetime members of the California Scholarship Federation
- Freshmen who have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.5
- Starting in Spring 2019, anyone will be able to join AGS as a service member, regardless of GPA. The requirements above must still be met if you want to be recognized as an AGS Honor Society member.
Why should you join?
- To have your academic excellence recognized
- To give back to your college and your community by means of volunteer work
- To gain valuable service and leadership skills
- To compete for academic and service awards. AGS awards thousands of dollars of scholarships every year
when are the meetings?
- We have meetings every Friday at 1:00 in the IAC Humanities Building.
